Workshops About the Artist
What I do: I studied ceramics at Bath University, graduated in 2002, focused on raising a family. During this time I have had the opportunity to run ceramic workshops, make bespoke commissions and develop ideas that have evolved with thought and time to mature into ideas that excite me as a potter. Why I do it: I have always had a love for drawing and ceramics, I try to combine the two into my work. Using white earthenware which is wheel thrown to create fine vessels of various shapes and sizes. My drawings and ideas are transferred using ceramic decals or imprinted into the clay to create a texturally rich look. How I do it: I enjoy the texture and tactile nature of clay in its raw form and as soon as I get my hands on it I am at home. The process of throwing, the fluidity and freeness of this process, I love, it is like drawing in clay. From individual signature pieces to collections, sharing my passion for clay has been my creative life. Rebecca Sagoo
